Un-Chase! Snakes

Snake safety training you can feel good about

Living in a snake-prone area can be stressful, especially when you share your life with a curious, fast-moving dog. That worry creeps into walks, backyard time, and sunny afternoons when your dog disappears into long grass.

You want your dog to be safe. You want to feel calmer letting them explore. You want to know you’ve done more than just hope for the best.

Un-Chase! Snakes gives you a clear way forward.

Our guided training helps you and your dog build practical safety skills together, strengthening your communication and connection along the way.

Trade worries for confidence, knowing you and your dog are prepared for real-life snake encounters.

We just wanted to thank you for the time you spent helping us to train Sunny to stay away from snakes.

We got to test just how effective it was recently when Sunny ran towards a Brown Snake on her way to the car with me. She looked, stopped, turned sharply, and ran straight to me, put her paw on my foot, and waited for the praise. Pretty remarkable for any dog, and especially so for a curious Jack Russell.

We’re very grateful and very appreciative of your skills and experience.

– Nick and Karen Slape

How Un-Chase! Snakes works

Un-Chase! Snakes is an 8-week guided program that combines app-based learning with private coaching.

You’re supported step by step, from the basics through to snake-specific practice.

STEP 1

One-hour private session (in person or online)

You’ll start with a one-hour private session with your Un-Chase! trainer.

This session covers:

  • Practical ways to reduce risk at home and on walks
  • Core skills that help your dog move away when it matters
  • Teaching your dog to give you a clear signal when they notice a snake

You’ll leave with a clear plan and simple next steps to start straight away.

STEP 2

Four weeks of app-based training

You’ll then move into four weeks of guided training delivered through the Un-Chase! app.

This includes:

  • Daily bite-sized videos with step-by-step instructions
  • Simple at-home training exercises
  • Regular check-ins with your trainer
  • Access to a community support group

*Most people use the app for convenience, but a web-based version is also available.

STEP 3

Four private sessions to transfer skills to real snake cues

Once your dog has the foundation skills in place, you’ll complete four private sessions focused on transferring learning to snake scent and realistic props.

These sessions include:

  • Guided exposure to snake scent and movement using safe training props
  • Trainer support, including tailored advice and troubleshooting
  • A take-home snake prop kit for continued practice
PLUS

Alongside the training sessions, you also receive:

  • 12 months of full program access
  • Lifetime access to the review course
  • Ongoing community support to help keep skills sharp

Program investment: AUD $699 (including GST)

Positive training that respects dogs and wildlife

Un-Chase! Snakes is grounded in behaviour science and inspired by scent detection work, where dogs learn to notice specific cues and alert their handler in real-world environments.

Training is calm, structured, and genuinely enjoyable. Your dog learns through progressive exercises, then practises those skills in places that matter to you, like your home, the trails you walk, and the environments you explore together.

Everyone’s welfare counts, regardless of how many legs they have. Dogs are never pushed into close contact with snakes, and snakes are never stressed or handled as part of the process. Instead, the focus is on confidence and safer decision-making, while keeping humans, dogs and wildlife safe.

Find an Un-Chase! Snakes trainer

Zefi and I have done the Un-Chase! Snakes eight-week training program and highly recommend it. Clear introductory session. Excellent online videos to demonstrate building the training exercises day by day and experienced practical ongoing training. Individual advice if needed as we go. This well-structured course has expanded my existing training skills and awareness of Zefi’s needs and strengths. Very important especially for those of us who live or walk in areas with snakes nearby.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does this use real snakes?

No. Training uses safe scent and movement props. Live snakes are never involved, as the program prioritises welfare for all animals, and we’ve seen consistently strong results using scent and props.

Yes. The program is designed for puppies through to senior dogs, across all breeds and behaviour profiles. Your trainer will tailor the program to suit your individual dog.

Yes! We’ve had many clients tell us about successful real-life encounters, where their dogs noticed snakes and responded safely thanks to their training. While no program can offer a 100% guarantee, Un-Chase! gives your dog practical skills that can make a meaningful difference in real situations.

Most days involve a short video (around 5 to 10 minutes) followed by a quick training exercise (about 5 minutes). If you can set aside around 15 to 20 minutes a day, you’ll be well placed to make progress. Snake safety training isn’t complicated, but it does rely on regular practice, especially in the early stages.

The program has been designed to be realistic and achievable for everyday life. If you ever feel stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure how to adapt things for your dog, your trainer is there to support you with adjustments and guidance along the way.

Once your dog has the skills in place, it’s helpful to refresh them a few times a year, for example before snake season. You can do this easily using the review materials, and you’ll have lifetime access to the review course plus ongoing community support to help keep things sharp.

No problem. You can also access the full program through a web browser.

Yes. The program has been designed to be simple and easy to use, even if technology isn’t your thing. And if you need help getting set up, your trainer can walk you through it.

No dog training method can offer a 100% guarantee. Training is designed for situations where your dog is near you, such as in your yard or on walks. It’s not intended for unsupervised outdoor dogs. Un-Chase! Snakes gives you and your dog practical skills that reduce risk by teaching them to move away and alert you when they see or smell a snake.

You receive 12 months access to all course materials, including videos, guides, and bonus exercises, plus lifetime access to the review course and ongoing community support to help keep skills fresh.

Un-Chase! Snakes includes private sessions with a licensed trainer, guided app-based training, a snake prop kit, plus lifetime access to review materials and community support. It’s designed as a complete, supported learning experience, not a one-off workshop you may need to repeat every year.

For many people, the value lies in having expert guidance, personalised support, practical skills, and the reassurance of using training methods that feel kind, respectful, and aligned with how they want to care for their dog.
